Why Cardi B & Offset Waited To Reveal Their Son Wave’s Name

Cardi B is, without a doubt, a very straightforward person and a doting mother. She appears to be relishing motherhood to the fullest. Cardi and Offset both posted adorable photos of their baby boy to their Instagram accounts on Thursday. Cardi recently revealed that they waited seven months to reveal their son’s name and face because trolls were mean when they quickly debuted their first child, Kulture.

Cardi B and Offset finally shared social media pictures of their seven-month-old son’s face on Thursday, revealing his name as Wave Set Cephus. Now, the Bodak Yellow singer and Migos rapper are explaining why they waited so long to show off their second child and reveal his name.

In a new interview with Essence, Cardi discussed the trolling directed at their daughter Kulture and why it made them wary of sharing too much: “So many people will post mean, disgusting things, just to get a reaction from us.” The I Like It hitmaker went on, saying, “We went through a lot of sad things when it comes to [our daughter] Kulture — terrible behavior that not even the older kids have ever been through.”

When their baby boy was born in September 2021, the couple, who had been married since 2017, decided to wait so they wouldn’t have to go through the same ordeal. ‘We want to protect our feelings because we get very, very angry and upset,’ Cardi explained. Cardi also revealed in the interview that she takes her role as a stepmom very seriously and never wants Offset’s children to feel left out.

“After we got married, that’s when I first met his kids. I always wanted them to love me, and they really do. They tell me that. I feel it, and I hope that we always have a great relationship.”

Offset stated that the way his wife has handled motherhood and the difficulties of being a stepparent has made life easier for the blended family.

“It’s a blessing to be able to have them all together, and to have a wife who’s open and treats them as if they’re her kids. It could be an issue, but I don’t have to go through that, and that’s beautiful.”
