Michelle Obama’s brother, Craig, is suing a private Wisconsin school after his two sons were kicked out of the institution. Craig Robinson and his wife Kelly are taking legal action against the University School of Milwaukee, citing racist intent when the boys were booted. The kids had complained about racist stereotypes in some of their assignments.
Shortly after the complaints, the school kicked the boys out. There was no clear indication of what the allegedly offensive material was. Craig Robinson was not very clear about the matter when he recently addressed it on Good Morning America.
“We heard what was going on because of COVID. There were repeated use of racial and ethnic use of stereotypes that were in actual assignments.”
Not long after the complaints, the Robinsons were sent a letter by the school. Their 11 and 9 year old sons were both dismissed. The school felt the family had taken a hostile attitude with how the complaints were presented.
The Robinsons described their sons as model students. They are alleging that the school dismissed them because of racial discrimination. Time will tell if they have additional evidence to back that claim up in court.
With details so murky at this time, it is hard to tell exactly what happened. That will all be settled before a judge. The impending case will have huge implications for the Robinsons’ and the school’s reputations moving forward. Michelle Obama will likely be tied to the story, even though she seems to have nothing to do with it.
