DJ Khaled took a break from throwing up bricks at NBA games to do something good for his community. Khaled visited his son Asahd’s school to talk to kids about never giving up. The visit also included the famed producer reading a book to the children.
Khaled had a discussion with the kids about what it means to be a winner. He told a story of Michael Jordan being famously cut from his high school basketball team. A little girl replied, saying she read a book about a similar story.
Khaled loved hearing that. He noted that the Khaled family has a saying in their house. “Keep going.”
“What happened was, when he was in high school, he got cut from his team. But he loved to win so much and be determined, basically what he did was not give up. Something I tell Asahd every day.”
The talk Khaled had with his son’s peers was much more on point than his three-point shot. It looked like he was having a good time trying to encourage the kids to always keep gunning for their dreams. The positive message is one that every child could stand to hear.
Time will tell if Khaled takes the basketball parable and gives it another try. The last time he stepped foot on the hardwood, he bricked a three and got kicked off. They have a saying in his family for things like that. “Keep going.”
