Malia and Sasha Obama did not get to experience a normal upbringing. The daughters of President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama were constantly in the public eye during their father’s historic presidential administration. Now that they are growing up and no longer in the public eye as much, things are starting to resemble a more traditional coming of age for the Obama girls.
Michelle Obama recently opened up about how Sasha and Malia are doing now that both are in their early 20s. The former first lady spoke about watching her kids grow up with Ellen DeGeneres. Michelle reflected on the evolution of the girls’ crushes on singers turning into bringing home grown adult men.
“Now, they’re bringing grown men home. Before it was just a pop band, now they have boyfriends and real lives and all that stuff. They have grown up right before our very eyes, and they’re doing well.”
Michelle Obama said she enjoyed getting to spend more time with her daughters during the COVID-19 pandemic. Spending time with these more mature versions of her little girls was something Michelle enjoyed quite a bit. It’s hard to believe that the young ladies who moved into the White House are adults already!
Obama said that Sasha is doing great in college and Malia is working with Donald Glover on a new TV show. The Obama kids have every chance in the world to succeed. Their mother is happy to see them capitalizing on the opportunity and not taking their privilege for granted.
