The Kardashian-Jenners immediately became tabloid magnets when they were introduced on E! in 2007. They used their television platform strategically to become social media influencers, billionaire businesswomen, and A-list celebrities. Hulu recently revealed that The Kardashians is its most-watched premiere in the United States.
Variety has learned exclusively from Hulu that “The Kardashians” is the network’s biggest series premiere in US history. Since the platform does not reveal ratings, the streamer did not provide particular watching counts. The Disney-owned streamers have never released any actual viewership data, save from actual subscriber counts, which Disney is required to disclose to shareholders.
Hulu also claims that the new episode is the most-watched Star Originals series on Disney+ and Star+ in worldwide countries (excluding Disney’s Marvel and “Star Wars” streaming properties). “‘The Kardashians’ is the most-watched series premiere on Hulu in the United States, and on Disney+ and Star+ among Star Originals, across all global markets to date,” a Hulu spokesperson said.
“The Kardashians” is the next show from the Kardashian-Jenners, following their groundbreaking E! show “Keeping Up With the Kardashians,” which lasted 15 years, 20 seasons, and spawned a slew of spinoffs. The world-famous family ended “KUWTK” in 2020. Soon after, they announced they’d be joining the Disney family with a new pact at Hulu.
Hulu will premiere 40 episodes of “The Kardashians” over the course of ten seasons as part of the deal. Members of the family joked during the red carpet premiere earlier this month that they’d like to do 20 more seasons of their new series, exactly like their previous reality show on E!
The record-breaking number for “The Kardashians” on Hulu is based on the number of hours watched in the first three days of the show’s release, since April 14. To get the latest updates, keep an eye on Thirsty.
