Ben Simmons has had a roller coaster of an NBA season. Simmons has not played in a single game. Before being traded from the Philadelphia 76ers to the Brooklyn Nets, Ben refused to play because he was unhappy with the team’s medical staff. A back injury has kept him out of the lineup since the blockbuster deadline deal brought him to Brooklyn.
With the Nets trailing their first-round playoff series with the Boston Celtics 2-0, time is running out for Simmons to play this year. It looks like the series could be a four-game sweep. A recent report notes that Ben Simmons may yet get to play at least one game for the Nets.
Shams Charania tweeted that Brooklyn expects Ben Simmons to play in game four against Boston on Monday. His return depends on him having no further setbacks in his rehab. If that’s the case, it will be Ben’s first game since last Summer.
“Brooklyn Nets three-time All-Star Ben Simmons plans to make his season debut in Game 4 vs. Boston on Monday as long as rehab remains on course, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium. Simmons is set to play his first game since June 2021.”
If the Nets lose game three and game four, that will be it for Simmons. The team could use all the help it can get right now. Ben could be the spark that turns around the series.
We will have to watch the next couple of games to get an idea if Ben Simmons will only play in one game this year. The Nets are hoping to turn things around when they return to Barclays Center. Ben is crossing his fingers that he has no further setbacks and can finally see NBA game action this year.
