Police Had Strategic Reason For Blindsiding ASAP Rocky With Arrest

A$AP Rocky was smacked into controversy after he was arrested at LAX for allegedly being involved in a 2021 shooting incident. The rapper was returning from a luxurious getaway from Barbados with his very pregnant girlfriend, Rihanna. It appears, the cops had a good reason to blindside the rapper with the arrest.

According to TMZ, cops had a strategic reason to not give Rocky or his team a heads up. Sources shared with the outlet that the arrest was more than a week in the making.

It’s common procedure for LAPD and other agencies to inform the other party prior to the arrest for voluntary surrender. The cops would typically call the suspect’s lawyer or other rep and arrange for the suspect to turn himself/herself in without fanfare. It should be noted that it wasn’t the case here.

Law Enforcement insiders told the outlet the reason they blindsided Rocky was because they wanted to see if they could find the gun used in the shooting.  As we previously reported, cops believe A$AP shot a man in Hollywood during an argument back in November. 

Cops wanted to find the gun and worried if they gave Rocky a heads up, he might 86 it. That’s why they coordinated the arrest and the search of his home so both went down at the same time. According to the outlet, at least 10 cops were waiting for Rocky when his private jet pulled up to the terminal.

The rapper posted $550,000 bail Wednesday and was released. He was seen leaving the police HQ surrounded by cops as he got into a waiting SUV. The D.A. has the case, and should make a decision soon on whether to file charges. Stay tuned to Thirsty for further updates.
