Shaquille O’Neal’s son, Shareef O’Neal, was a promising hoops prospect when he graduated from high school. Shareef committed to UCLA, but things didn’t work out. He transferred to his father’s alma mater, Louisiana State University, but now he is moving on from there, as well. Shareef is having trouble finding his way, but he isn’t ready to give up on basketball just yet.
TMZ Sports caught up with Shareef at LAX recently. The son of Shaq said he is ready to keep trying, even though things haven’t gone the way he would have liked at UCLA and LSU. He’s not giving up.
“Yeah. I’m not giving up… I ain’t going say too much right now. But people going to see [where I end up next].”
Shareef O’Neal has been rumored to be looking at Texas Southern University as his next stop. His sister, Amirah O’Neal, plays basketball for the school as well. Shareef isn’t quite ready to commit to anything publicly.
After sitting out his freshman year at UCLA, O’Neal had to have serious heart surgery. After recovering, his playing time was not what he hoped for with the Bruins. Shareef transferred to LSU.
A foot injury limited his contributions at LSU. Now, he is looking for another fresh start. Shareef O’Neal has plenty of talent and name recognition. He just needs to find the right landing spot.
