Diddy is one of the most influential names in hip-hop. From his career behind the console in the mid-1990s through his rise to fame as a solo artist later that decade, Sean Combs has made a lasting impression on the world of music. Now, he will be in a position to honor those who came after him.
Deadline reported that Diddy will pull double duty at the upcoming Billboard Music Awards. The show, set to air on May 15 on NBC, will also see Combs serving as an executive producer. Diddy is hoping to bring new life to the show.
“This will be unlike any awards show. I’m bringing the love and setting the frequency at an all-time high. The Billboard Music Awards truly represent the artists and where music is today, so I’m excited to curate the biggest live performances and surprises. The world has to tune in to see.”
Diddy is a two-time Billboard Music Award winner. The Bad Boy mogul took home the trophy for Top Rap Song and Top Rap Artist in 1997. Diddy has charted 37 hits on the Billboard Hot 100.
The top performers of the year in music won’t be the only ones being honored. Mary J. Blige, fresh off her Super Bowl LVI performance, will be presented with the Icon Award. Live performers include Megan Thee Stallion, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, and Blige herself.
The show airs live on May 15 at 8 PM eastern time. NBC and Peacock will both be carrying the broadcast. We will have to wait and see how Diddy does during his first-ever hosting gig.
