Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s relationship came to an end in the worst way imagined. Now she has revealed that many Kanye jokes were cut out during her monologue on SNL.
The Kardashian’s Hulu show is up and running on the platform. In the recent episode, Kim revealed a few details about her SNL appearance last October. She said that she had many jokes related to Kanye and her divorce from him that were left unaired.
The SKIMS founder’s SNL monologue from last year was praised by many people for the quality of humor in it and her delivery. It’s no surprise the material was good, given the caliber of people she has consulted before going live. She took to established comedians Dave Chappelle and Michelle Wolf. Kim even paid Amy Schumer a visit to help work on her monologue.
“I don’t want too many Kanye jokes, like one. So there are two or three in here so I think I’m gonna take this one out. This one’s from Michelle Wolf […] The divorce is so sensitive for him. I’m already saying that part in the monologue, I don’t want to like — maybe I could talk to Chris and think of something funny. I could just tell him, ‘Hey! This is super sensitive to him.’”
Kim refrained from doing too many jokes about Kanye West. She admitted she wanted to be mindful of Ye’s feelings and didn’t want to come off as attacking him. Kardashian’s monologue mentioned Kanye and included a few compliments for her ex-husband, but she went on to joke that the divorce came down to his “personality.”
Kim Kardashian’s SNL appearance led to her dating cast member Pete Davidson later in 2021. This was the origin of Ye’s relentless jabs at the new couple. It upset Ye so much that he started a personal and childish feud with Davidson on the internet.
This just goes in to show how mindful Kim can really be. Given the behavior Ye has shown towards Pete and Kim during the initial phase of their relationship, Kim’s mature approach truly demands respect from fans.
