Tom Grennan’s plan to take America by storm had to take a scary detour after an incident following his performance in New York City. The British singer was reportedly robbed after his gig at NYC’s famous Bowery Ballroom on Wednesday night. During the robbery, he was assaulted and left hospitalized due to the injuries he suffered in the attack.
Grennan’s manager, John Dawkins, made a statement on Thursday regarding the incident. Tom was outside of a bar in Manhattan in the early morning hours. Grennan was still in the hospital at the time the statement was released.
“Tom is currently in hospital being assessed by doctors for his injuries which include a ruptured ear, torn eardrum and issue with his previously fractured jaw. Despite this Tom is in good spirits but needs to temporarily recuperate whilst doctors assess his ability to continue with touring.”
Tom Grennan was scheduled to perform in Washington, DC tonight at the Miracle Theatre. That show has been postponed. Grennan doesn’t want to let his fans down and is hoping to reschedule the date.
Fans were understanding, flooding Grennan’s social media with well-wishes. Hopefully, he has a speedy recovery. Tom had indicated that he was enjoying his American excursion.
There is no timetable for his return to the stage. A broken jaw can cause a lot of problems for a singer. Tom is going to do his best to get back soon, but it will be completely understandable if he needs to take a while.
