Jada Pinkett Smith Insisted On Vacation To India After Will Smith’s Oscar Slap

Will Smith, Jada Pinkett Smith’s husband, recently smacked Chris Rock at the Oscars, attracting a lot of backlash. Will Smith has probably learned his lesson and won’t do anything like that again. It was recently reported that Jada Pinkett Smith ‘insisted’ on going on vacation despite Will Smith’s Oscars slap backlash.

The show must go on, and the vacation must continue. Jada Pinkett Smith was adamant that the family’s trip to India would not be canceled as a result of Will Smith’s Oscar slap. “Will and Jada have taken the family on [a] vacation that was already planned,” a source tells Us Weekly exclusively.

On Saturday, April 23, the Concussion star was spotted in Mumbai, India. As he smiled for photos with fans, the actor appeared to be in good spirits. The insider adds, “There had been talk of canceling [the trip] but Jada insisted.” At the 94th Annual Academy Awards on March 27, the Gotham actress was the target of a joke that enraged her husband.

With her short hair, Chris Rock joked that Pinkett Smith, who suffers from alopecia, looked ready for G.I. Jane 2. Smith stormed the stage and slapped Rock across the face. After returning to his seat, he yelled, “Keep my wife’s name out of your f*cking mouth!” The Academy also punished the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air alum, announcing on April 8 that Smith would be barred from attending the Oscars for the next ten years.

Pinkett Smith has returned to the red carpet, making her first public appearance on April 10th at the Rhimes Performing Arts Center in Los Angeles for the opening of the Debbie Allen Dance Academy. The Maryland native’s Red Table Talk was also renewed for Season 5 on Facebook Watch, and she hinted that the family might address the Oscars issue on the show.

Pinkett Smith issued a statement ahead of the season premiere of Red Table Talk on Wednesday, April 20th.

“Considering all that has happened in the last few weeks, the Smith family has been focusing on deep healing. Some of the discoveries around our healing will be shared at the table when the time calls.”
