Ronda Rousey Was Surprised By Fan Reaction To Her WWE Royal Rumble Return

Ronda Rousey went on a long hiatus in 2019 before returning to this year’s Royal Rumble. The Baddest Woman on the Planet opened about how her return was received by fans really shocked her.

Rousey recently spoke on the Wives Of Wrestling podcast about her return at the 2022 Royal Rumble return. The former Raw Women’s Champion won that match and the fan reaction at the time has admittedly surprised her a bit.

“I guess the feedback I get is a live audience, there’s a lot of times where what you think is coming online and what the live audience is expressing are two opposite things.” Rousey said. Case in point, Royal Rumble, I left as a heel and was getting booed out of every stadium, and I was like, ‘okay, so I assumed everyone thought I was still a heel’

And any interviews I gave any time I was talking sh*t on the fans. Like, being in character for in case I come back, and that’s what I assumed I would come back to. When it ended up not being that reaction, I was really, really surprised.”

Ronda Rousey is set to go against Charlotte Flair for the Smackdown Women’s Championship at WrestleMania Backlash in an “I Quit” match. Fans are waiting in anticipation to see how the match turns out. We’ll also pay close attention to the fan reaction.
