DaBaby remains one of the most controversial rappers in the hip-hop world. His homophobic statement at Rolling Loud last year was simply one of many instances of his downfall. DaBaby’s lawyers also made a claim recently.
Back in November of 2018, DaBaby was present at a Walmart in North Carolina where he was with two kids and his then-girlfriend Mariah Osborne. The rapper previously claimed that 19-year-old Jaylin Craig drew a gun on him.
DaBaby then ended up shooting the man and avoided murder charges as judges agreed it was done in self-defense. As previously reported, footage surfaced which might have proven DaBaby’s self-defense claim to be false.
According to TMZ, DaBaby’s lawyers, Drew Findling and Marissa Goldberg stated that the video was reviewed by prosecutors back in 2018. The prosecutors concluded that DaBaby acted in self-defense, which is why he wasn’t prosecuted for homicide.
It was further said that the video was also checked by a Mecklenburg County judge in connection with a misdemeanor charge for not having the proper permits for his gun. The lawyers also released a statement regarding the shooting.
“Witnesses were interviewed and corroborated Mr. Kirk’s statement. The entirety of the surveillance video was viewed and determined to corroborate Mr. Kirk’s statement … Mr. Kirk was protecting himself and his family at the time of the shooting.”
DaBaby also reacted to all the drama after the footage surfaced. We’ll have to wait and see what controversy DaBaby will somehow get involved in next.
