Kyrie Irving is one of the best point guards in the world, but he didn’t show it this week as the Brooklyn Nets were eliminated from the NBA playoffs by the Boston Celtics. Outside of Game 1, Irving was simply awful, and many pundits were perplexed by his poor performance. He appeared unmotivated at times, and it was shocking to see how far he had sunk.

Perhaps some of it can be attributed to the fact that he had to play in Boston, a city that has long despised him since he left. Irving had to face his former teammates, and it was clear that they had him beat on both ends of the floor.

Irving recently took to Twitter for the first time since the series’ conclusion to address those former teammates. As you can see, he was gracious in defeat because he knows Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, and the rest of the guys are nice people.

We didn’t get the result we wanted, but I wanted to congratulate my brothers in that Celtics locker room. They earned the series Win and I wish them well as they advance. Nothing but love competing against them.

Irving went on to say that he intends to grow from this point forward and that he is grateful to God. Needless to say, Irving is taking a pacifist stance in the aftermath of an embarrassing playoff exit. Check out his tweets below.
