Russell Westbrook’s tenure with the Los Angeles Lakers has been abysmal. As soon as he began playing games with the team, it became clear that he did not fit in. Westbrook struggled in his first season with the team, from turnovers to poor shooting performances. So much so that, as the trade deadline approached, there were rumors circulating that Russ would be dealt elsewhere.
Now that the season is over, those rumors have resurfaced, with the Charlotte Hornets and Indiana Pacers appearing to be the most interested parties. Regardless, Westbrook has a massive contract that will be difficult to trade, especially if his current slump continues.
Westbrook, on the other hand, appears to be fueling trade rumors. For example, Westbrook recently removed the Los Angeles Lakers, Washington Wizards, and Houston Rockets from his Instagram account. The Oklahoma City Thunder are the only team left on the list, so who knows what Russ is really trying to say here.

In any case, he appears to be done with the Lakers. If the rumors of a rift between Russ and LeBron James are true, that could be the catalyst. A new coach might not want to deal with it, either. Russ’ offseason status will be a major story this offseason, so stay tuned to Thirsty for all of the latest news and updates from around the NBA.
