Amber Heard and Johnny Depp continue to be the talk of the town as their bizarre court case continues. There has been plenty of explosive testimony, including accusations of Amber pooping in the couple’s bed. It’s hard to tell who to believe, but some hard facts about the couple’s relationship have come to light.
During their initial divorce in 2016, Amber Heard promised that she would donate her entire $7 million payout to two charities. Those worthy causes included the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles and the American Civil Liberties Union. It seemed like a kind and generous gesture from a celebrity who didn’t need the cash.
During today’s testimony in Depp’s defamation suit against Heard, ACLU leader Terence Dougherty said Amber did donate to the organization. It was much less than she had pledged in the settlement, according to TMZ.
Dougherty claimed the ACLU received four donations in Amber Heard’s name. The total amount was $1.3 million. That falls quite a bit short of her promised $3.5 million gift.
Only $350,000 of that money came directly from Amber. Johnny Depp personally wrote a check for $100,000. Other payments came from a donor-advised Vanguard fund and $350,000 from a similar Fidelity fund.
The last donation the ACLU received from Amber Heard came in 2019. The agreement was that the $3.5 million would be split over ten years. It doesn’t seem that Amber has any plans to keep up with those promised payments. Nothing is surprising in this most unusual court battle.
