Elon Musk is continuing his campaign to “protect free speech” on Twitter. The Tesla boss recently announced an agreement to purchase the company. Many have been suspicious that his motives may be personal or political rather than an act of advocacy and altruism.

Musk has stated that he believes certain voices are silenced on the platform. Right-wing topics began trending immediately after the news broke that he was buying the company. Elon is also being investigated for using Twitter to manipulate the stock market as well as for cryptocurrencies in his favor.

Musk took to Twitter today to further his agenda. A series of tweets started with him saying that the far left hates everyone. Musk also stated he is “not a fan” of the far-right, but stopped short of using the word “hate.” Earlier, he had posted a poll asking if his followers thought Twitter adheres to principles of free speech, which got over two million votes, 70% of which were for “No.”

“The far left hates everyone, themselves included!

But I’m no fan of the far right either. Let’s have less hate and more love.”

Yesterday, Musk also posted a stick figure cartoon showing his evolution from the far left to a more right-wing political leaning. Elon might have the public’s best interests in mind, but it appears he is trying to appeal to a very specific audience. There is likely something more to this than meets the eye, but we will just have to wait and see.
