Adam Cole’s Undisputed Era had an incredible run on NXT since its inception. The original members of the stable, Cole, Bobby Fish and Kyle O’Reilly dominated the ring until their tenure ended with WWE. The former leader of the faction spoke about his group recently.
While speaking with Universal Wrestling Podcast, Adam Cole opened up about one particular moment backstage. He said the trio was specifically told that Undisputed Era was not going to be like the nWo.
“Also this is behind the curtain as well, I remember when me, Bobby, and Kyle were talked to about being in this group,” Cole said. It was specifically said to us when we came together, like hey Undisputed Era is not going to be like nWo. It’s not gonna be a thing like where all these different people join and guys turn on different people and you bring new people and kick certain people out. It’s gonna be just you three as this brotherhood dominant group.”
Roderick Strong would later join the stable and is the only member of the faction who is still signed with WWE. Rest of the three are signed with AEW separately.
It’s understandable why WWE would probably never want to draw similarities to legendary stable NWO. From what Cole was told the company likely wanted the trio to create their own unique identity with Undisputed Era.
