Playboy Carti is certainly one of the more established rappers in the hip-hop world right now. Despite that, he is no stranger to controversy. Carti was performing at the Smoker’s Club Festival in West Hollywood, but it wasn’t long before fans took over the VIP section.
Kid Cudi, 2 Chainz, Wale, Joey Bada$$, A$AP Rocky, Rico Nasty, Wiz Khalifa, and Chief Keef headlined the Smokers Club Festival this weekend. Unfortunately for the audience, not every name on the lineup made it through their entire set time without interruption.
According to the New York Post, while Playboi Carti was performing on the main stage of the San Bernardino, California festival, a group of fans attempted to rush the VIP section, but were quickly stopped by security guards. When the security team arrived, they blocked off the area, forcing fans to flee. Carti took the stage at 7 PM and was only able to sing two songs before the rowdy crowds forced her to leave early.
According to XXL Mag, the Whole Lotta Red hitmaker’s microphone was cut at one point, and a team member was sent out to address the crowds and ask them to calm down so that Carti could resume his performance. They also asked patrons to step back from a railing for safety reasons.
At this time, reports indicate that no one was injured and that no one was arrested. Carti’s brief performance clearly irritated fans, who took to Twitter to express their displeasure. Cameras caught Rihanna hanging out and dancing backstage during her baby daddy’s set at the Smoker’s Club Festival. Check out the tweets below.
