Country legend Naomi Judd tragically passed away on Saturday. At the time not much was known about her cause of death, but we are now learning what happened.

People confirmed Naomi Judd passed away by suicide on Saturday following a longtime battle with mental illness. She was 76-years-old. At the time of her passing, no additional information was released except that she died of “mental illness.”

Naomi was known to be a long-time advocate of mental wellness. She has even opened up about her own battle with suicidal depression in the past. Unfortunately, she eventually succumbed to it.

Grammy Award winner was one-half of the mother-daughter duo, The Judds. The country singer’s death comes as a shock. Many still can’t believe it as the pair was supposed to make an appearance as inductees at the Country Music Hall of Fame ceremony on Sunday.
