Rod Wave is in some serious trouble with the law. The “Heart on Ice” rapper is behind bars after being arrested for felony battery by strangulation in St. Petersburg, Florida. Rod was booked just hours ago after being arrested by the St. Petersburg police.
A case report shows that Rod Wave, real name Rodarius Marcell Green, is currently being held on the charges in an Osceola County jail. There are no further details on who the victim was or what his motivation might have been. Under Florida law, felony battery by strangulation is defined as when a person “intentionally touches or strikes another person against the will of the other.”
In Florida, the offense is a third-degree felony. There are a litany of circumstances involved in the sentencing guidelines. If found guilty, he could face years behind bars.
The arrest report also notes that Rod Wave already has a commissary balance of $2,458. That amount of money will go relatively far in jail, so perhaps he anticipates a long stay. It will all depend on the circumstances of the crime and Rod’s intent.
In the past, Rod Wave has been arrested for illegal possession of weapons. That would be a major strike against him in a court of law. Florida takes into account the history of violent offenders when sententing them.
The report lists the arrest falling under statute 901.04/F. That statute refers to the execution of arrest warrants. It does appear that Rod Wave was wanted for a previous crime, and the police just now served the papers when they arrested him.
