Shia LaBeouf rose to international prominence after appearing in Transformers in 2007, and this came after a stint as a child Disney actor on Even Stevens. FKA Twigs, on the other hand, is a well-known English singer and songwriter. Shia and FKA started dating in mid-2018 and split in June 2019. After failing to reach a private settlement in the alleged sexual battery lawsuit, Shia and Twigs are now set to go to trial. Things aren’t going too well.
According to Radar Online, Shia LaBeouf and his ex-girlfriend FKA Twigs are headed to trial after the two were unable to reach a private settlement in the sexual battle lawsuit she filed against the Hollywood star. On Monday, lawyers for both parties appeared in court to provide the judge with an update on mediation.
According to the court order, “Mediation was held, the case did not settle.” The unexpected development comes after Shia and FKA had been attempting to reach an agreement in order to avoid a public clash in court. The trial date was set for April 17th, 2023, by the court. It is expected to last 5 to 7 days, with the next hearing scheduled two weeks beforehand.
FKA Twigs filed her explosive lawsuit accusing her ex of horrific abuse in 2020. Shia allegedly forced her to endure emotional manipulation during their relationship, which lasted from 2018 to 2019. Shia allegedly shut her off from her family and friends, according to court documents. FKA claimed that the actor slammed her against a vehicle and attempted to strangle her during one alleged incident.
Shia also allegedly drew a pistol and threatened to shoot stray dogs, according to another example submitted to the court. During their time together, she described Shia as being extremely jealous. FKA claimed he forced her to follow rules, including not speaking to other guys. She also alleged he committed sexual battery by knowingly giving her an STD.
When the singer confronted Shia about it, he allegedly did not deny the allegation. FKA filed a lawsuit for unspecified damages, claiming she suffers from PTSD. “The gaslighting has gone on long enough here and it’s time to hold Shia LaBeouf accountable,” the singer’s lawyer Bryan Freedman told Rolling Stone. “My client wants a trial date.” Shia has denied all allegations of wrongdoing in the case and has filed a motion to dismiss it.
Shia’s lawyer, Shawn Holley, issued a statement admitting her client needed help at the time of the lawsuit. “Shia needs help, and he knows that. We are actively seeking the kind of meaningful, intensive, long-term inpatient treatment that he desperately needs,” she said. All of this drama comes as Shia and his fiancée Mia Goth welcomed their first child together.
