50 Cent is without a doubt one of the most well-known rappers in the history of hip-hop. However, 50 has recently proven that for him, no victory is too small to be celebrated.
On Tuesday, 50 took to Instagram to celebrate the small victory he just had in court over Remy Martin’s lawsuit against him and his Branson cognac company for reportedly “copying” their bottle’s shape.
“They know i didn’t take their bottle design. The Big brands try to put smaller brands in court when they start gaining momentum to slow them down. They know Branson Cognac is the new wave.”
According to court documents obtained by Radar Online, a judge requested that the hearing be expedited with 50 Cent anticipating that the court will finally dismiss the complaint filed against him by Remy Martin. The original case, which was filed in August 2021, accuses 50 Cent of copying Cognac’s signature diamond-styled bottle, which the company owns a patent on.
The Queens rap legend and his Sire Spirits company subsequently launched a countersuit, which Remy Martin appeared to have dismissed. However, the court system sided with 50, agreeing that their counterclaims and defense were “sufficiently pled and common-place in patent infringement lawsuits.”
The judge dismissed the case before moving further with the current hearing to assess how far Remy Martin’s patent extends as far as it relates to Branson cognac’s product. Keep checking back with Thirsty for more!
