Amber Heard took the stand today to testify in her ongoing legal battle with Johnny Depp. The couple have traded accusations for months. Depp sued Amber for defamation to the tune of $50 million after he says her false allegations of abuse cost him several major film roles.
During her testimony, Amber said that she has been triggered by all the drama. Reliving a traumatic part of her life day after day has not been healthy for her. Heard said that re-living the past has been the most difficult thing she’s ever done.
“[The trial is] the most painful and difficult thing I’ve ever gone through.
This is horrible for me to sit here for weeks and relive everything. Hear people that I knew — some well, some not — my ex-husband with whom I shared a life, speak about our lives in the way that they have.”
Earlier, psychologist Dawn Hughes testified that she had seen acts of physical violence against Johnny Depp. Aggression and psychological abuse were also pointed out by the expert witness. Heard took the stand with intentions to refute those claims.
Thus far, the court of public opinion seems to be siding with Johnny Depp. Amber Heard recently fired her PR team and took on a new legal strategy to combat the negative public perception. As the case wraps up, we will have to wait and see if that strategy works.
