Kim Kardashian is an expert at drawing a lot of attention, and she did so once again at this year’s Met Gala. She wore Marilyn Monroe’s iconic “Happy Birthday, Mr. President” dress. This ended up getting a mixed reaction from people.
The reality star borrowed the glittery, nude gown worn by Monroe to sing “Happy Birthday” to President John F. Kennedy in 1962 from Orlando’s Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Museum. In fact, Kim Kardashian lost a lot of weight in order to wear the gown. Many people were upset over the fact that the dress was unearthed just for this. However, others don’t feel the same way.
According to TMZ, President/CMO of Authentic Brands Group Nick Woodhouse said that he and his partners believe Marilyn would have been happy to have seen Kardashian wear her gown at the Met Gala.
Woodhouse added that he believes there is no one better than Kim Kardashian for the dress, as he sees similarities between Kardashian and Monroe. The similarities being they are both strong, powerful and independent entrepreneurs who love being in front of the camera.
If Kardashian went to the estate for their blessings, they would have easily given it to her as well. Woodhouse believes Kardashian is more than worthy of wearing the dress and that is what matters. This might stop some of the complaining, but it’s doubtful considering the source.
