Dave Chappelle was attacked during a recent comedy set at the Hollywood Bowl. The shocking turn of events surprised many, fortunately for Chappelle, he wasn’t injured. However, his attacker is a different story.
As noted earlier, the man who attacked Chappelle was arrested by LAPD. The authorities identified the attacker to be 23-year-old Isaiah Lee and they have now released photos of the weapon/knife that the attacker pulled out during the scary interaction.
The weapon appears to be a gun, but it was confirmed to be a fake. However, it has a real knife attached to it similar to a bayonet. You can see it in the picture released by LAPD below.
The attack could have been really deadly for Chappelle if it actually connected since the knife is real. The comedian was saved in time and the attacker was beaten down by people present there including Busta Rhymes and Jamie Foxx.
The attacker was then transported to the hospital after the severe beatdown by the angry mob. There, he was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon.
As of right now, there is no word on a motive for the attack. Chappelle’s show continued as if nothing happened. Hopefully, showrunners increase the security measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
