Johnny Depp and Amber Heard’s lawsuit continues to make headlines. Depp’s attorneys have rested their case in his $50 million defamation lawsuit against his ex-wife. Heard has since taken the stand alongside other witnesses to testify against the Pirates of the Caribbean star.
In Heard’s most recent claim, she told the court how she felt ‘protective’ over Depp’s children during their relationship. A number of fights and arguments have been cited during the trial. In this instance, the couple had clashed over Lily-Rose Depp, now 22, in November 2013.
According to Mail Online, Heard said, “This argument happened because I didn’t agree that this gentleman – a famous musician over the age of 18 – spent the night at the house and I felt protective over Lily-Rose and concerned.” She added that, “Naturally, they were not my children, it’s not my place and I understand it, I know it’s a sensitive subject so I understand why Johnny got so upset with me.”
However, she continued to feel protective over Lily-Rose, particularly after he allegedly introduced her to weed when she was a teenager. She further said that, “But that and the introduction of the weed with his daughter, she was so young, I felt protective. It’s not my place and I made him really angry by weighing in on that.”
“I started to feel very protective. Johnny’s sobriety meant that he was there and then he wasn’t. The nature of our lives with the travel and the work meant he was there and then he wasn’t. She was so young, I just felt protective.”
During Depp’s earlier testimony in his 2020 libel suit against The Sun, which he lost, he said he ‘never encouraged’ his daughter to use marijuana. Depp said in his testimony, “My daughter was 13 years old and, as we all know, at 11, 12, 13 years old, when you go to high school parties you are approached by people who will want to give you drink because they’re drinking.” Depp then recalled telling her,
“Listen, sweetheart, if you are at a party and someone hands you the joint, take the joint from that person and pass it to the next person… don’t experiment with drugs with people you don’t know.”
“Please do me the honour of coming to me when you are ready, when you really feel you are ready.”
“Because I don’t want your first experience in this world to be with people you don’t know, taking things you don’t know that I can’t trust, so it’s a safety issue.”
Heard has also claimed during her Wednesday trial that Johnny Depp penetrated her with a glass bottle. That being said the conclusion of the case widely awaited by fans and Hollywood alike. Stay tuned to Thirsty for further updates.
