Zara Marke, who had a small role in the hit Marvel film “Doctor Strange,” (credited as Zara Pythian) has been accused of sexually molesting a 13-year-old girl along with her husband, Victor Marke. The alleged assaults took place in the couple’s home and were sometimes filmed. The actress has now denied the allegations against her.
Zara testified before the Nottingham Crown Court on Thursday. She said the teenager has always been a liar. Marke said the allegations were fabricated and false.
Prosecutors say Zara and Victor gave the girl Captain Morgan rum and then dared her to perform a sex act. This evolved into full sexual intercourse. The prosecution says these interactions took place once or twice a month between 2005 and 2008.
The couple is alleged to have told the victim to keep the indescretions a secret. Both Victor and Zara are charged with 14 counts of sexual activity with a child. Both have pleaded not guilty.
Zara Marke was arrested along with her husband for the crimes in 2017. She called the entire story “ridiculous.” The alleged victim had earlier given testimony recounting the terrible acts.
Time will tell what the jury ultimately thinks of Zara Marke’s victim-blaming. She has shown no signs of compassion towards the girl. That may not play well with the people who are about to decide her fate.
