Nicki Minaj is no doubt one of the most renowned female rappers in the Hip-Hop world. But unfortunately, Minaj’s father, Robert Maraj, was killed in a horrible hit-and-run accident a year ago and she had to go through a very tough period of time. However, the hit-and-run offender who killed Nicki Minaj’s father has recently pled guilty.
TMZ reports that Charles Polevich pleaded guilty to one count of leaving the scene of a fatality and not reporting it. And one count of tampering with physical evidence.
State Supreme Court Justice Howard Sturim said to Polevich, “I’ll sentence you to no more than a year in jail,” explaining the terms of the deal Friday. Polevich, who faced up to 7 years in prison, would also be required to perform community service and have his driver’s license suspended, according to the judge.
Robert Maraj died in February 2021, at the age of 64, after being hit in a hit-and-run accident. According to investigators, Maraj was walking in the roadway on Roslyn Road near Raff Avenue in Mineola around 6:15 p.m. on Feb. 12, 2021, when Polevich struck him with his 1992 white Volvo station wagon.
Nicki later wrote on her website about the tragedy saying, ” I can say it has been the most devastating loss of my life.” She also added how much she loved him and he’ll be missed. However, Polevich is scheduled to be sentenced on August 3rd.
