Fans all over the world adore Benedict Cumberbatch, who is not only a brilliant actor but also a beautiful human being. However, the ‘Doctor Strange’ star recently joked about Will Smith hitting Chris Rock at the Oscars during his ‘SNL’ monologue and made a smashing return.
The Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness star made his second appearance on Saturday Night Live on Saturday. As everyone knows, Will Smith smacked Chris Rock onstage moments before winning, and Benedict made sure of mentioning it on the Studio 8H stage and cracked a joke about it.
The star, who was nominated for The Power of the Dog, said with a smile, “I didn’t win … I was beat by Will Smith.” Benedict added after a little pause. “Not physically! Not physically.”
Benedict talked about the recent abortion controversy in a sketch about the impact of a medieval law on Roe V Wade earlier in the episode. He also played an 80s band member who performs at Chuck E. Cheese, as well as a cowboy who is emotionally impacted by the taste of ice cream during a focus group. The British actor makes his second appearance on SNL, having previously hosted the show in 2016.
Meanwhile, Will was banned from attending the Oscars for the next ten years after he assaulted Chris, who tried to make a joke about Will’s wife, actress Jada Pinkett Smith, on stage during his speech. Will had already resigned as a member of the Academy when the decision was made.
