James Gunn’s Guardians Of The Galaxy film series is one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s most beloved series of all time, as it propelled the careers of Dave Batista and Chris Pratt to superstardom. Just as Marvel movie fans were getting ready to see “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” on May 6th, James Gunn announced that filming on “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” has officially ended.
The end of production signaled the end of Dave Bautista’s run as Drax the Destroyer in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. A character he has stated he will leave after the third “Guardians of the Galaxy” film. Batista wrote on social media about saying goodbye to Drax.
Haven’t found the words yet. It ended so suddenly and I was on to my next film before I could process it all. End of a journey that changed my life. #guardiansofthegalaxy #vol3 #GoodbyeDrax #DreamChaser #DreamMachine
Last summer, Bautista informed Ellen Degeneres that he wouldn’t be reprising his role as Drax after the third “Guardians” film. Bautista has always stated that his desire to play Drax stemmed from his admiration for Gunn, who was sacked from directing “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” by Disney due to inappropriate comments he made on Twitter in the past.
Bautista was a vocal supporter of Gunn and refused to reprise his role as Drax unless Gunn was brought back. Gunn was eventually rehired by Disney. On May 5, 2023, “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” will be released. Check out the posts below.
