Gunna was arrested as part of a gang-related indictment that also included Young Thug and 26 other accused YSL associates. However, according to Gunna’s legal team, the rapper is an honest and generous man and the cops who nabbed him were wrong to use his music and lyrics against him.
According to a statement obtained by TMZ from Gunna’s attorneys, Mr. Sergio Kitchens, better known as Gunna, is innocent. His attorney claims that the indictment “falsely portrays his music as part of a criminal conspiracy.”
They also highlight Gunna’s services to his community, such as the first local free in-school grocery and clothes store, which serves over 400 children weekly, and nationally sponsored giveaways for catastrophe and food crisis victims. “Mr. Kitchens has been an advocate for his community, and it is our privilege to advocate for him.” the legal team of Donald F. Samuel, John A. Garland, and Kristen W. Novay said.
Gunna handed himself in on Wednesday, two days after Young Thug’s home was raided and the rapper was arrested. Both were arrested on RICO charges stemming from a Fulton County, GA indictment that included 56 counts and 28 defendants.
“I killed his man in front of his momma, like f*** lil bruh, sister and his cousin,” and “my trigger start itching” from Young Thug are among the lyrics in the indictment. Gunna and Young thug have both been charged with gang activities, narcotics possession with the intent to sell, and receiving stolen property.
There is a lot to unpack in this situation and a lot of rap fans will continue watching this situation clearly. Stay tuned to Thirsty for more!
