Star Wars is one of the highest grossing film series ever produced. Besides its earnings at the box office, the Star Wars franchise has sold billions of dollars in toys, video games, books, and other merchandise since the first film’s release in 1977. Fans will soon get to get their hands on one of the most sought after movie memorabilia from the iconic franchise.
UK-based Propstore is holding a four-day entertainment memorabilia live auction at their US headquarters in Valencia, CA between June 21-24. According to DailyMail, the hottest item on the list is the screen-matched miniature model of ILM’s ‘Red Leader’ X-Wing starfighter from Star Wars: A New Hope in 1977, which is estimated cost between $500K and $1 million.
The list also includes, the Everlast boxing shorts that Will Smith donned as Muhammad Ali in Michael Mann’s 2001 biopic Ali, which is expected to fetch between $1,500-$2,500. The SFX insert hand that Johnny Depp wore as the titular role in Tim Burton’s 1990 film Edward Scissorhands is expected score between $30K-$50K.
Propstore COO Brandon Alinger expects items worn by the 53-year-old Oscar winner and the 58-year-old Oscar nominee might earn more considering their recent headline-grabbing scandals. Alinger said in a statement to Reuters
“At the moment, we are hearing a lot of people talk about Will Smith, we are hearing a lot of people talk about Johnny Depp,”
“I do think that will bring about special attention, in part just because it causes people to revisit their work and revisit their titles.”
The whole auction is expected to amass a whopping $9 million. There are more than 1,800 rare and iconic items going up for sale during Propstore’s Entertainment Memorabilia Live Auction. You can check out some pictures of the items on auction below. Stay tuned to Thirsty for further updates.
