Thor: Love and Thunder is an upcoming American superhero film based on Marvel Comics’ Thor. In a production still from Thor: Love and Thunder, The Multiverse received its first look at Natalie Portman in Asgardian armor, wielding Mjölnir, and standing beside Chris Hemsworth.
The photograph appeared in Empire Magazine alongside an interview with Taika Waititi, the film’s director and co-writer. Dr. Jane Foster, Portman’s character, didn’t appear in a Marvel film since 2013’s Thor: The Dark World. It will be a significant adjustment for the hammer-wielding Avenger.
One fan wrote: “Filling out passport paperwork. Religion: Natalie Portman as Mighty Thor.”
Another commented: “Girls don’t want boys girls want Natalie Portman as Thor.”
A third person chimed in, saying: “natalie portman punch me in the face pls.”
You might be wondering why Portman is dressed as Thor. If the film follows the blueprint of Jason Aaron’s 2015 comic book run, Foster will take up the role of Thor, now known as the Goddess of Thunder. Waititi, whose comic sensibility provided a new depth to Thor: Ragnarok, remarked of Portman’s comeback that “Natalie is incredibly funny in real life.”
Waititi said that she’s kind of goofy and has got a great sense of humor. He doesn’t think that was exploited enough in the first films. Check out Natalie’s first look and the fan reactions below.
