Blac Chyna Has ‘Less Than 18 Percent’ Chance Of Winning Appeal Against Kardashians

The court battle between Blac Chyna and the Kardashians became one of the most highly discussed topics in the past couple of weeks. More facts were revealed in the $100 million defamation suit against the Kardashians. Chyna might want an appeal, but she has barely any chance of winning against the Kardashians.

The Kardashians ended up winning the case as it was declared that Blac Chyna will be awarded no damages by a jury on May 2nd in her lawsuit against the Kardashian and Jenner family. This did not set too well with Chyna at all.

This was definitely not what Blac Chyna had in mind when she filed the lawsuit. She tried to appeal the court’s decision but barely raised $300 in 12 hours to help appeal the case. In the end, that GoFundMe was an epic failure.

According to Hollywood Life, John M. Phillips of Phillips & Hunt stated that while new evidence is not needed in the appeal, there is less than an 18 percent chance Chyna will win against the Kardashians.

“It’s quite difficult to overturn a lawful jury verdict and the odds are not in her favor. It usually requires a fresh look from a new set of lawyers in a relatively short time frame. In the past few years, the reversal rate in civil cases at the California Court of Appeal has been consistently around 18 percent. I’d say based on the current state of her pleadings and rulings, Chyna’s chances are even less than 18 percent. Delay is a strategy and can result in the settlement or movement of assets.

Chyna’s appeal would begin “with a Motion for New Trial in the trial court. Then, the Motion and any adverse rulings are appealed to the state appellate court. They review whether the trial court judge abused his discretion or if there was a legal error.

It would take 6-18 months for an appeal to get through and back to court for final entry and enforcement of the judgment.

Blac Chyna is also set to compete in a Celebrity Boxing match next month to get more money. She might want to move on, but that lawsuit against the Kardashians will stil stick with her. We will have to wait and see whether Blac Chyna ends up winning or not, as it seems highly likely now.
