The controversies surrounding Johnny Depp and Amber Heard are coming to light one after the other. The enraged ex-lovers are currently involved in a heated court battle in Virginia. It was recently revealed that Amber will question Johnny’s ex-girlfriend Ellen Barkin.
According to Radar Online, Amber Heard’s legal team has stated that Johnny Depp’s ex-girlfriend Ellen Barkin will be called as a witness in court next week. According to sources close to the 36-year-old actress, Barkin will appear in court through a zoom link to answer questions. Heard put Barkin on her witness list from the beginning, but it was uncertain if she would be called.
Elon Musk and James Franco were both named as witnesses, although neither is expected to be summoned. Heard believes Barkin’s testimony will assist to persuade a jury that she did not fabricate the accusation that Depp mistreated her on many occasions, which Depp has denied.
During Depp’s previous court battle with the U.K. tabloid The Sun, in which he accused them of defaming him by dubbing him a “wife-beater,” Barkin testified about an event in which the actor nearly harmed her. Barkin asserted during filming in a Las Vegas hotel room that Depp tossed a wine bottle at her. During a deposition, she testified that the bottle did not hit her or anybody else.
Depp eventually lost his case against The Sun. The judge concluded that the publication had sufficient evidence to establish that the article was “substantially true.” The verdict ruled that 12 of the 14 claimed domestic violence incidents against Heard did happen.
Heard feels Barkin’s allegations will aid in establishing Depp’s violent background. Winona Ryder, the Pirates of the Caribbean star’s other ex-girlfriend, had issued a statement in support of the actor.
“The idea that he is an incredibly violent person is the farthest thing from the Johnny I knew and loved. I cannot wrap my head around these accusations. He was never, never violent towards me. He was never, never abusive at all towards me. He has never been violent or abusive towards anybody I have seen.”
“I do not want to call anyone a liar but from my experience of Johnny, it is impossible to believe that such horrific allegations are true. I find it extremely upsetting knowing him as I do.”
According to sources close to Heard, she will also question her sister Whitney about Depp’s alleged abuse. The actress and her younger sister are very close. Whitney was frequently around the former couple and even observed several of their reported fights. The biggest surprise may come when Depp is summoned back to testify as one of Heard’s witnesses. Her legal team will take another go at the celebrity.
Last month, Depp told the jury that he never assaulted Heard or any other woman in his life. Heard testified about many alleged incidents of horrible abuse, including one in which her ex-husband penetrated her with a vodka bottle.
The case is still in the middle, and no one knows which way it will go. That will have to wait. So, to get the latest updates, keep an eye on Thirsty.
