Florida-based rapper Rod Wave was detained on the morning of May 2. Details on his detention were scant at the time. However, it was discovered recently that Rod, whose real name is Rodarius Marcell Green, was arrested for allegedly choking his ex-girlfriend in front of their children.
The incident occurred on April 24, according to police reports. Rod’s ex partner contacted 911 twice after their physical encounter. He choked her till she couldn’t breathe, she claimed, after accusing her of chatting to other guys and scratching his neck.
He had fled the scene before police arrived, but was apprehended during a traffic stop a week later. The “Tombstone” singer was released on $5,000 bail and has pleaded not guilty to the charges. While he has not addressed the subject directly, he has given his followers an update on his music.
He confirmed that his new album, Beautiful Mind, would be released on June 3 before being arrested. That does not appear to be the current plan. The 22-year-old made an announcement about his album in a now-deleted Twitter message.
…Moving my album back June 10th.
He rapped, “Hope you didn’t get it twisted/I love that girl to death/I made mistakes in my relationship [that] I still regret.” He also shared a clip from what appears to be a new song from his upcoming album. He discussed his relationship problems in it, which could be related to his ex’s charges. Check out screenshot of the now-deleted tweet below.
