Amber Heard submitted an op-ed for the Washington Post in 2018 detailing her experiences as a domestic abuse survivor. In response to the publication, Johnny denied being abusive to Amber and filed a defamation case against her. She has filed a $100 million countersuit and all of that is playing out in court.

Many social media users have come under fire for making memes out of Amber’s harrowing statements, as well as turning audio excerpts from her sobbing confessions into viral TikTok sounds. During the trial, Johnny’s supporters have shown up in the courthouse to demonstrate their support for him, and they have also banded together on social media to defend him.

Over the weekend, it was revealed that some of Johnny’s admirers are sending hateful Instagram messages to his 22-year-old daughter, Lily-Rose Depp for not openly supporting her father. This isn’t the first time Johnny’s followers have been chastised for their internet behavior.

One person wrote: “You post your t i t s more than your own dad, what a wreck.”

Someone else wrote: “Please support your father. Regardless of YOUR relationship with him you know that Amber is NOT THE VICTIM. Support him please, speak up!!!!”

Lily-Rose hasn’t posted on social media since before the trial started, but her earlier posts have been targeted. A screenshot of some of the remarks seen on the model’s Instagram page was posted in a now-viral tweet. While Lily-Rose has remained silent in this case, she backed her father in a now-deleted Instagram post from 2016, when Amber’s allegations against Johnny were first made public.
