Travis Scott’s Astroworld concert in Houston resulted in the deaths of 10 people after the crowd could not be controlled. More than 300 people also suffered injuries. Travis Scott made his first television appearance since the Astroworld tragedy, and that caused outrage among some fans who thought it was “in poor taste.”
Just recently at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, the rapper released a new song called Mafia while performing a futuristic ice age-themed act. Later on, he performed the song Lost Forever. While some fans were relieved to see Travis back in his environment, others were upset and took to Twitter to vent their anger.
One fan added, “Travis Scott should not be on here!!!!”
Another wrote, “Travis Scott performing like nothing happened is in poor taste.”
A third one chimed in, “How embarrassing for your comeback performance to be looking like a weird extra from the next Ice Age movie?”
A fourth user questioned, “Who thought having Travis Scott perform was a good idea?”
In the aftermath of the Astroworld catastrophe, Diddy was vociferous in his desire for the Highest In The Room MC to perform. Multiple lawsuits have been filed against Travis and the event’s organizers since then. In addition, the father of two was dropped from this year’s Coachella festival.
Despite pleas for Travis’ performance to be cancelled, Diddy insisted that the Goosebumps singer get a spot on the show. Travis’ girlfriend Kylie Jenner and daughter Stormi Webster, who made a surprise cameo at the 2022 Billboard Awards, also showed their support. That support likely won’t change the minds of fans who simply don’t want to see Travis Scott on their televisions.
