Elon Musk has a complicated relationship with controversy. Elon recently sowed the seeds for his decision to back out of his deal to buy Twitter. Now, a Twitter engineer claims the platform ‘does not believe in free speech’ after being caught on a shocking secret recording slamming Elon Musk.
According to Radar Online, senior Twitter engineer Siru Murugesan was recently caught on secret recording not only criticizing Elon Musk and his alleged takeover of the social media giant, but also claiming that the platform has a clear left-wing bias and a history of constantly censoring right-wing users.
Project Veritas secretly recorded Murugesan over a series of interactions in which he said staff of the social media platform “hate, hate, hate” Musk and his plans to acquire Twitter. In a surprising development, this comes as Twitter and Musk’s $44 billion transactions reportedly hang in limbo.
Murugesan was characterized as a “Senior Engineer” at Twitter before slamming the 50-year-old Tesla founder and Twitter’s “extremely far-left” culture. The claim was made clear that Twitter “does not believe in free speech,” according to the covert recordings.
“Twitter does not believe in free speech. They hate it. Oh my God. I’m at least like okay with it. But some of my colleagues are like super left, left, left, left, left.”
Murugesan alleged that the Twitter company’s culture is so far-left that it began moulding and modifying his own political and social views. It allegedly got to the point where he compares working at the company to communism. That comparison made the tape even more surprising.
“I think it’s just like the environment, like you’re there and you become like this commie.”
“Ideologically, it does not make sense like, because we’re actually censoring the right and not the left. So, everyone on the right-wing will be like, ‘bro, it’s okay to stay, just gotta tolerate it.’ ‘The left will be like, no, I’m not gonna tolerate it. I need it censored or else I’m not gonna be on the platform.’”
“So, it does that on the right. It’s true. There is bias. It is what it is today.”
Murugesan’s explosive interviews with Project Veritas about Musk, his buyout of Twitter, and the company’s alleged censorship of right-wing users came just days after the SpaceX founder’s takeover and forced the company to put new protocols in place to prevent employees from sabotaging the platform.
The new protocols included restrictions that would stop Twitter developers from “going rogue” and making unapproved changes to the platform. Banning any product updates not “business-critical” to the company or social media platform was also a part of the new policy.
Many Twitter employees appear to be dissatisfied with Elon’s takeover. It will be interesting to watch how Elon handles this. To get the latest updates, keep an eye on Thirsty.
