Bow Wow is certainly one of the most well known and sought after rappers in the hip-hop world. He is known to be quite outspoken when there is a need for it. Bow Wow is also confident in his skills and even laughs off relevancy discussions.
When it comes to the younger generation of hip-hop listeners, quite a few of them speak of older age hip-hop artists who have simply lost relevancy. While veteran rappers do not release music at the same pace as the newer generation of rappers, it is for a different reason.
Bow Wow is more than aware of the relevancy criticisms from those who tried to discredit his influences. While even Drake has given him huge props and fans continue to shower him with praise, Bow Wow is not immune from trolls.
Bow Wow and The Millennium Tour won the Top Rap Tour Award at the Billboard Music Awards. The rapper took to Instagram Live and celebrated his success, as he made it clear he couldn’t care less about relevancy criticisms.
“It’s amazing. I can’t name you one artist…you know, and I’m going to continue to be humble, I’m going to continue to work my ass off. The word ‘relevant’ don’t bother me ’cause I don’t know how n*ggas even put that word with me.”
Relevancy to me means…what are you doing right now? And I guess if you ask me that question, I’ll tell you I don’t know, I’m just winning motherf*cking Billboard awards. That’s what I’m doing in 2022 and we gonna continue to do that sh*t.”
Bow Wow simply continues to show that he is far from done when it comes to his influence in the industry. He will continue to get support from fans and peers alike and that is what matters. We’ll have to see what’s next in store for the rapper.
