Ronda Rousey is back in WWE after taking a break to have a baby. Now that her daughter is here, Rousey is back in the ring and SmackDown Women’s Champion as well. Getting in the the squared circle with Rousey is unlike anything else those Superstars have experienced so far, that’s for sure.
Raquel Rodriguez was one of the highlights of NXT television where she even became the NXT Women’s Champion. She was eventually called up to the main roster on Friday Night SmackDown. Rodriguez has a very high opinion of her match against Ronda Rousey from SmackDown last week.
Ever since Ronda Rousey became SmackDown Women’s Champion after defeating Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania Backlash, Rousey has been on a mission to be a solid champion. She defended her title against Raquel Rodriguez on last week’s episode of Friday Night Smackdown. Rousey successfully retained her title against the much larger Rodriguez.
Fans and peers alike were impressed by Raquel Rodriguez’s performance in the match. While speaking on WWE’s The Bump, Raquel Rodriguez talked about her match against Ronda Rousey. She called the match a mental battle throughout.
“I rank it at the top. If not number one then number two because I’ve had some pretty intense matches. I’ve had brawls with Rhea Ripley, I’ve had high-flying, long, scary matches with the IO Shirai that were just thrilling and then I’ve had this [against Ronda], which was just a mental battle the entire time. It was no longer about using things outside of the ring. It was just about me and where I was standing in that moment of time and where she was at in that moment of time, and just getting it done. So it’s definitely one of the top.”
We will have to wait and see what the company will have planned for Raquel Rodriguez in the coming weeks. In the meantime, Ronda Rousey will continue to show fans how she can be a great champion. Fans are excited to see who her next challenger will be.
