Jersey Shore remains one of the most well-known reality television shows in the history of entertainment. From 2009 to 2012, every member of the show would live in a house together in New Jersey. The show used to air on MTV and it became a huge part of pop culture in general thanks to the antics of the original cast.
The original cast eventually matured and went through various phases of their lives, including marriage, opening new business ventures and more. Due to the insane popularity, it isn’t a surprise MTV wants to reboot the show.
However, the idea of Jersey Shore 2.0 did not sit well with the original cast. In a press release, MTV reportedly stated that Jersey Shore 2.0 “chronicles a new generation of share house roommates hitting the same famed beaches and boardwalks along the Atlantic to make new memories all summer long.”
The original cast, including The Situation, Snooki, JWoww, DJ Pauly D, Vinny, Deena and Angelina were upset with the reboot and made sure their displeasure was known.
As a cast that took a chance with a network in need, we put our most vulnerable moments on television for the world to see. We gave our all over the past 13 years, became a family and continue to open our lives for the world. so please understand that we are not in support of a version that will exploit our original show, our hard work and authenticity to gain viewers. Don’t forget to tune into an all new season of Jersey Shore Family Vacation #WeAreJerseyShore
According to TMZ, the higher ups at MTV were not only taken aback, but they were also actually furious and called the cast “ungrateful” and said, “It’s disgusting they’d take a swipe at the network.”
It was added that the cast’s claim MTV was struggling before airing Jersey Shore was simply untrue and also a low blow. We will have to see how successful the reboot show will be. In the end, the original cast may be upset but that is irrelevant to MTV right now.
