Elon Musk has been more active than usual on social media this week. He has been all over the headlines for one reason or another. Elon Musk recently chastised Hillary Clinton’s team for a tweet accusing Donald Trump of secretly speaking with Russia in 2016.
After a Twitter user tagged him in the message, asking what he would do about the “misleading disinformation” once he took control of the popular social media network, the tech entrepreneur dubbed the tweet a “hoax.” The tweet in question is a comment made by Hillary Clinton during her previous presidential campaign on October 31, 2016.
The former U.S. Secretary of State wrote at the time while calling out Donald Trump. “Computer scientists have apparently uncovered a covert server linking the Trump Organization to a Russian-based bank. This line of communication may help explain Trump’s bizarre adoration of Vladimir Putin and endorsement of so many pro-Kremlin positions throughout his campaign.”
Now, a Twitter user is attempting to have the 2016 tweet removed, which has resurfaced in the news. In a tweet, the account tagged Elon Musk. The Tesla CEO stated that they were exactly true and that if he had complete control of Twitter, he would revise Twitter’s standards for eliminating that type of information.
The user wrote: “I would be interested to know if, when you receive control over the company, anything was done with this at any level. Pls advise soonest.”
Musk responded: “You are absolutely correct. That tweet is a Clinton campaign hoax for which their campaign lawyer is undergoing a criminal trial.”
He went on to say that the tweet is a Clinton campaign fake and that Michael Sussman, Trump’s campaign lawyer, is currently facing criminal charges for lying to the FBI about Trump’s relationship with Russia. Musk was recently accused of sexual misconduct by a former SpaceX flight attendant’s buddy, who said Musk asked his ex-employee to give a “erotic massage” on him during a flight to London in 2016. Despite the fact that Musk reportedly paid the flight attendant a $250,000 settlement, the charges have resurfaced.
