Michel Pereira is a Brazilian mixed martial artist currently competing as a Welterweight in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Pereira has an impressive 28 wins to 11 losses in MMA while 6 wins to 2 losses in UFC. Michel Pereira wants Jorge Masvidal to be his next opponent, but it’s not only for the sake of having a high-profile opponent.
Following his most recent victory inside the octagon, the rising UFC welterweight contender called out the BMF champion as well as Nate Diaz. In the co-main event of Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 206, Pereira won a split decision over seasoned veteran Santiago Ponzinibbio.
It was his fifth straight victory in the UFC, and a bonus-worthy Fight of the Night victory at that. Following his victory, the Brazilian went for two of the UFC’s biggest names. At the UFC Fight Night 206 post-fight news conference, Pereira informed reporters about his next target.
I really want to fight Nate Diaz because I think it’d be really fun to slap each other around, I think it’d be a really fun fight. I think we’d put on a show for all the fans. And also, Jorge Masvidal because I have a little bit of a problem with him, and I want to settle it.
So he sent an emoji to my wife – the emoji with the two hands together like (praying). He sent it to my wife and didn’t send it to me. And you know, I never actually crossed paths with him, never had the chance to ask him. So I figured, you know, I really want to understand, but might as well understand inside the octagon. So we’ll just settle it over there.
Pereira’s remark on Masvidal is more personal than Diaz’s. Masvidal allegedly sneaked into his wife’s direct messages on Instagram, which has irritated him. We’ll have to wait and see how Jorge Masvidal responds to the challenge.
