Original: Kanye West went dark on Instagram after a firestorm of controversy over his insults aimed at Pete Davidson. Davidson has been dating Ye’s ex-wife, Kim Kardashian, for months. Kanye’s unhinged posts accused Pete of being a danger to his family and eventually led to his suspension from the platform.
After radio silence for nearly two months, Kanye West commented on a post by his girlfriend, Chaney Jones. West still didn’t make any posts of his own, however. Today, that silence was broken.
Kanye posted a photo of a stylized McDonald’s-branded sandwich to his Instagram Story. There was no other explanation besides a caption that said “Next week it’s the fries.” That is a reference to a line in Ye’s hit track, “Gold Digger.”
During Super Bowl LVI, Kanye West made a surprise appearance in a McDonald’s advertisement. In the spot, Ye pulls up to a McDonald’s drive-thru and places an order. He later shared an outtake from the commercial on social media.
Kanye West has not indicated whether he is going back into business with McDonald’s. The company does already have an established relationship with the Chicago rapper. There could be something new just around the bend.
Time will tell if Kanye West is making a joke or has something new in collaboration with McDonald’s. The company recently pulled out of Russia after 30 years over the war in Ukraine. Hooking up with Kanye might not be the best PR move at this time, but he is a household name.
