Robert Downey Jr had plenty of great times as Tony Stark and he has grown very attached to the Iron Man character. Now that favorite MCU character has bid farewell, the Hollywood heavyweight is preparing for other projects. The star of the Avengers is launching a new Discovery+ series based on his love of old cars.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Downey’s Dream Automobiles is the current working title. It would follow the Iron Man star and a team of experts as they restore antique cars to make them more eco-friendly. This definitely echoes Tony Stark’s affinity for modern technology.
The unscripted series attempts to bring historic cars up to date for the environmentally conscious. At the same time it aims to preserve their beauty and appeal. Downey discussed about the series with THR.
My goal is to showcase that it’s possible to keep the integrity of classic cars while leveraging new tech and innovation to make them more eco-friendly. I’m thrilled audiences will get to see this series on Discovery+ later this year.
The series will be produced by Team Downey and Matador Content, which will premiere on Discovery+ at the end of 2022. Downey Jr.’s and Susan Downey’s entertainment firm, Team Downey, previously collaborated with Discovery+ on the series The Bond.
Dolittle, Perry Mason, and Sweet Tooth are among the prior efforts of the husband and wife production duo. Meanwhile, Downey Jr. can be seen in the upcoming star-studded Oppenheimer film, and we got a first peek at him and Cillian Murphy from Peaky Blinders last month.
