Amber Heard’s trial with ex-husband Johnny Depp appears to have taken her time away from filming any movies. However, on Monday, a witness for Amber Heard seemed to spill some details about the upcoming DC film “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.”
During the continuing defamation trial involving Heard and her ex-husband Johnny Depp, entertainment consultant Kathryn Arnold appeared to reveal some spoilers. Arnold noted that the first draft for the script gave Heard, who plays Princess Mera in both the sequel and the parent flick, a “strong romantic arc” and “some great action sequences.” Later revisions revealed that her role had been “radically reduced.”
Arnold explained on the stand:
“She ends up in the hospital early in this new ‘Aquaman 2’ movie and doesn’t really come out until the end to kind of wrap things up. All the interactions with Momoa’s character, and certainly the action scenes, were taken out.”
While Arnold did not elaborate on why Mera would be in medical care in the superhero film, she did say that she was “injured” or that “it had something to do with a baby.” Mera is Aquaman’s love interest, played by Jason Momoa. The pair has a child named Arthur Curry Jr., a.k.a. Aquababy, according to the “Aquaman” comics.
Arnold further claimed that despite Heard’s role being reduced, she had trained “five hours a day for several months with a trainer” for an action sequence. Heard claimed last week in court that Warner Bros. slashed her screen time and “didn’t want to include me” in the DC Comics sequel.
Arnold also testified for the court that Heard’s career took off after she starred in 2018’s “Aquaman.” “It was that moment where not only was she a good actor, but she was now world-renowned because she was in the most successful film … for DC Comics,” she added of the movie, which went on to gross more than $1.1 billion at the box office.
Momoa reportedly defended Heard to maintain her role in the sequel, according to reports. Momoa and director James Wan were “committed to her” and “adamant” that she be in the movie whatsoever, according to Arnold. Stay tuned to Thirsty for more updates.
