Kanye West was set to release his latest Yeezy x Gap collection today. Ye’s fashion collab with the popular retailer was engineered by Balenciaga and many fans were hyped for the release. In the wake of the terrible school shooting in Texas, Kanye has decided to put the release on hold until Friday.
The original drop was scheduled for May 25th. Kanye decided to show respect to the victims by delaying that release. Ye announced the move on the Yeezy x Gap Instagram page.
“In light of the tragedy in Uvalde, Texas, we are postponing the Yeezy Gap Engineered by Balenciaga launch until Friday, May 27.
As we pause, our hearts go out to the families and communities impacted.”
The new collection was designed by Kanye West, who collaborated with Demna Gvasalia of Balenciaga. Fans were excited to get their hands on the new gear, much of which has been worn by Kanye over the last few months. Jackets, jeans, hoodies, t-shirts, gloves, and boots will be the order of the day.
Kanye West didn’t want the release to take attention away from the tragic events in Texas. Excited fans will have to wait a couple of extra days. They can still get their orders in before the weekend, as the collection will now drop on May 27th.
